Around 50% of all the bananas consumed in the UK are imported through Portico. But we're not just all about bananas. Close to the major UK shipping channels, Portico Shipping is specialised to load, unload, shift and store a whole range of cargos.

Based in Portsmouth, Portico is perfectly placed to serve the whole of the south coast.

Our head office is directly adjacent to the Portico deep sea cargo terminal, and is where our management team is based.

Governed by our board of directors, including council staff and elected officials, Portico Shipping is supported by a strong independent senior management team with many years of experience.

Steve Williams, Managing Director

Steve Williams Managing Director

Steve has spent over 30 years in the shipping industry, working in senior management positions for Britain’s major ports. Steve’s role is making sure Portico stays on track to fulfil its potential in the cargo and logistics business. He was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Covid-19 honours, for outstanding services during the pandemic.

Richard Lewis Operations Director

With 40 years shipping experience, Richard has worked with major port operators and shipping lines.  As a director of the Portico group, Richard champions port services and supports the strategic direction of the business.

Mark Webb, Chief Financial Officer

Mark Webb Chief Financial Officer

Mark Webb has worked for Portsmouth City Council’s finance department for 15 years, joining as a senior accountant and working his way up to Finance Manager. He is now Chief Financial Officer for Portico and Finance Manager at Portsmouth International Port, where he manages the port’s budget and spend.

His experience working in the public sector has involved him overseeing major investment projects and also navigating the port finances.

Lewis Wilson, General Manager

Lewis Wilson General Manager

Lewis has been with Portico since 2014 starting as a Distribution Administrator, he has risen through the ranks in operations to now become General Manager of Portico Shipping.

Supported by an experienced and knowledgeable workforce, Lewis is responsible for the day to day running of the business as well as working with the Directors and senior management team to shape the future of the business.

A deep-water port with two conventional berths, we have state of the art equipment to move your goods with ease. This includes 4 mobile harbour cranes, who can flex their muscles up to 125 tonnes. Our expert crane operators can also perfectly co-ordinate tandem lifts of a combined weight up to 250 tonnes.

Ample quayside space, alongside temperature controlled and conventional warehouses means we can store your cargo until it is ready to be moved on.
