The Queen visiting Portsmouth

Responding to the announcement of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Steve Williams, managing director at Portico said:

“I am deeply saddened to hear of the death of Her Majesty The Queen. Her exemplary life of public service was an outstanding example to all, and her abiding support for the Merchant Navy and seafarers meant that she was much loved throughout the industry.

“On behalf of Portico, I extend our condolences to the Royal Family at this difficult time”.

The Lord Mayor, Councillors and Officers of Portsmouth City Council, who own Portico, would also like to express their deep sadness following the recent announcement.

Statement from The Right Worshipful the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, Cllr Hugh Mason:

“On behalf of councillors and officers at Portsmouth City Council, I would like to express my deepest sadness following the recent announcement of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. I would like to take this opportunity to offer our condolences to the Royal Family, who remain in our thoughts and prayers at this very sad time.”

Flags in the city are being flown at half mast as a sign of respect.
