Providing an efficient, complete logistics journey is the focus for the south coast’s deep water cargo terminal Portico, following the appointment of Damir Sluga as freight forwarding business development manager to drive expansion and build on the success of its established customs and cargo handling services.
With over 20 years in the industry working for major brands such as DHL, UPS and NTG across Europe, Damir has more recently worked in the multimodal sector focussing on road, rail and sea freight, bringing expertise to Portico to help develop haulage, freight forwarding and warehousing opportunities so customers have a seamless logistics journey.
Portico has established its credentials as a major international port, famously known for handling the majority of bananas imported into the UK, it has since invested in a new haulage service and has a fleet of eight HGVs, and is constructing a new purpose-built general cargo warehouse creating up to 50,000 square feet of storage. This is in addition to the specialist customs agency and freight forwarding experts who make sure road, rail, air and sea freight reach their destination with complex customs and transport requirements handled with ease.
Damir Sluga, Portico’s business development manager said: “This is an exciting time to join the team, Portico has already successfully established itself as a port operator and following the recent investment is in a great position to expand its expertise into the wider logistics area.
“Providing excellent customer service is essential for any business development manager to deliver their role successfully, and I was impressed at how seriously Portico valued this too.
“Companies have faced huge issues getting their goods where they need to go, with the effects of the pandemic, Brexit, the war in Ukraine, all causing issues for those who rely on an efficient supply chain. I’m confident Portico can reduce some of that uncertainty, and I’m looking forward to meeting customers and making sure they can benefit from the expertise and knowledge Portico provides.
“We can take care of the full logistics package, from ship to shore, planes to places, rail to road, wherever in the world we will make sure goods arrive where they’re needed and on time.”
