Transport Manager

(40 hours per week plus evening & weekend working when required)

Portico have an exciting opportunity for a driven individual to join Portico as a Transport Manager. Providing the essential link between Portico and retail customers, this role will ensure that the transport function operates within acceptable parameters in terms of optimum scheduling, sound financial controls, and agreed service levels.  Through utilisation of forecasts, operational standards and customer requirements you will ensure smooth flow of goods to both RDC’s and wholesalers.

The successful candidate will ideally have a background in the transportation of both temperature and time sensitive, containerised short shelf life products.  Having managed the transportation and client liaison functions within the supply chain you will have excellent strategic and interpersonal skills, and a proven ability to effectively manage logistic operations to improve overall performance and maximise business opportunities.

To apply for this role you must be able to demonstrate achievements in the following areas:

Qualifications:

  • Must hold CPC (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence)

Competencies:

  • Excellent Leadership and people management skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent relationships with excellent influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of Transport/Driver legislation
  • Excellent use of IT, including excel, word and power-point
  • Exceptional Communication skills and ability to present at all levels

Background:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience of logistics management preferable in a port or related environment.

Freight Reception & Gear Store Administrator

(40 hours per week with evening and weekend working when required)

Portico have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join the Cargo Receiving Office as a Freight Reception & Gear Store Administrator. The successful candidates will play a pivotal role receiving and consolidating general freight in the cargo receiving area whilst ensuring we achieve excellent customer service at all times. The role will also be responsible for the supervision, inspection and maintenance of Portico’s lifting equipment.
