Operations Planner

(40 hours per week including weekend rota)

As a deep water cargo terminal close to the main shipping channels, Portico is ideally positioned to handle goods from ship to shore and beyond. Located within Portsmouth International Port with direct access to the national motorway network, we’re the first choice for customers looking for an efficient and cost-effective cargo handling and stevedore service. Fresh produce is our core business, from pineapples, sweet potatoes, citrus to tomatoes, not to mention the majority of bananas eaten in the UK.

Our Operations Department have an exciting career development opportunity to join the team as Operations Planner. The successful candidate would be responsible for the efficient planning of vessel and terminal operations, to include co-ordinating the terminal’s operational labour force.

  • Some experience of shipping/operations planning
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills in a fast paced environment

  • Awareness of financial and commercial issues

  • Knowledge of Terminal Operating Systems (desirable)

Due to the nature of this role the successful applicant will be required to join the weekend rota to attend to planning and labour issues as they arise.

Maintenance Engineer

(40 hours per week with on call duties)

Portico have an opportunity for an experienced individual to join the organisation as a Maintenance Engineer.

This role will join both the workshop material handling and crane maintenance teams who ensure that all MHE and cranes are available to use as required and that they meet expected lifetime of asset and conform to statutory regulations. This role is responsible for periodic inspections of MHE and cranes and related equipment, informing the manager of required work/parts to order/damages/required repairs and ensuring that compliance records are maintained and completed. This role is also required to assist with electrical and mechanical maintenance when required. The role will include joining an on call rota with the other crane engineers and at times supporting the MHE team out of hours or on call.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Experience of repairing general mechanical handling equipment
  • Experience of working at height and using MEWP’s.
  • Current clean driving license.
  • Able to manage deadlines, work as an individual and part of a team.
  • Computer literate including Microsoft office applications.
