Portico looks to welcome regular shipping arrivals from UK’s largest independent building materials firm Brett Group, following a call on Monday 5 July by Britannia Beaver to bring construction material into Portsmouth’s terminal operations facility.
This regular call, which was made of up approx 4500 tonnes of sharp sand, will be a convenient way to reach customers on the south coast.
Steve Williams, Portico’s operations director said: “We have been working hard to make sure we can accommodate a variety of goods through the port, and this has now resulted in vessel calls to unload materials from Brett Group who specialise in aggregates and building materials.
“This recent delivery demonstrates a great opportunity to work with a significant independent firm in the building materials sector and establish a relationship.
“We hope this is just the start of what could be a long term agreement, with the potential for the relationship to grow and to help meet regional demand for materials.
“Our location and ability to handle a range of goods makes Portico an ideal terminal to help support UK trade.”
Portico has created additional quayside space through the demolition of warehouses and reconfiguring the site to accommodate dry bulk materials.
