About us

While we’re famous for bananas, there’s more to us under the skin.

We’re owned by Portsmouth City Council, who bought the company in 2008. We’ve transformed from a primarily fruit business, into a multi-million cargo handling operation.

Governed by a board of six directors, including council, Portico, and elected officials, we’re also supported by a strong independent senior management team.

We employ a wide range of staff, including crane drivers, customer account handlers, warehouse and container operatives, quayside staff, health and safety, HR and facilities.

Facilities

We’re a deep water port with two conventional berths, and have state of the art equipment to move your goods with ease.

This includes 4 mobile harbour cranes, who can flex their muscles up to 125 tonnes.

Our expert crane operators can also perfectly co-ordinate tandem lifts of a combined weight up to 250 tonnes.

Ample quayside space, alongside temperature controlled and conventional warehouses means we can store your cargo until it is ready to be moved on. Find out more.
